Latest: New season repertoire - taking part in music events locally

Music Makers of Milton Keynes are a community choir with an emphasis on singing for fun ... mixing up a range of styles and sounds.

We are a welcoming bunch, with a range of backgrounds, ages, experience and a blend of multi-part harmonies - whether accompanied or a cappella.

We perform at local events, collaborate with other musical groups, take bookings for sessions and hold our own concerts.

Please download our flyer and spread the word!

FORTHCOMING EVENTS:  Looking ahead to later in 2024 - some engagements already due, times TBC

Come see us - Save the date for 4th May 2024 at St. Mary's, Shenley Church End - details to follow

We're also expecting to be at Stony Live, Stony Riverside Fair, Freeman Church in Bletchley, Stony Open Gardens

We hope to be at more local events and sessions, with some private booked events, and the festive season pub gatherings at The Cock Hotel, and Shoulder of Mutton, Calverton. We are concentrating on practice, familiar and new pieces again for the next season and beyond, welcoming newcomers as always - so it'll be a good time to try out and join up!

Our collaborations usually take place locally to MK. Lifts can be arranged with members if needed.

See our Events Calendar to keep up to date with our rehearsal slots, future engagements, and for venue information.

RECENT EVENTS:

MMMK have taken part in local events in Stony Stratford and MK, along with some performances for community groups - as part of Stony Live! 2023, and the Stony Stratford Autumn Fayre. We also concluded the year with rousing sing-along festive performances at many events, private and public - much enjoyed by all involved!

MMMK enjoyed our festive commitments, including a Christmas Concert on Saturday 10th December back at St.Mary & St.Giles Church in Stony Stratford. Our last rehearsal of 2022 also doubled as a sing-along gathering in The Shoulder of Mutton, Calverton on Thursday 15th December. Some members also joined other local groups for their seasonal collaborations too. We held our successful and rousing Autumn 2022 concert on Saturday 8th October at the Freeman Memorial Methodist Church in Bletchley.

MMMK re-started post-lockdowns in 2021, and undertook a more scaled-back Christmas period, with some festive pub sing-a-long sessions.  We had to miss our usual fixtures for Stony Live! 2020 and in 2021 while under restrictions. In 2022, we offered an Open Evening on the 9th June 2022 and followed this up with some busking on 11th June by the lychgate on Stony High Street. Following some great feedback, we'll do similar again!

MMMK concluded our earlier joint commitments in 2019 - our annual concert with Brackley Wind Ensemble was preceded with choir members joining Wolverton Light Orchestra for their Christmas Concert. We'd like to thank our previous long-standing music director Brian Dipple for all his efforts on our behalf - vocally, in partnerships, collaborations, and especially with the trips abroad. In particular, our Summer 2019 tour in Germany Rhine & Moselle was a success, with a number of local events beforehand - including variations on our set list with BWE in Westbury.

NOTABLE PAST EVENTS:

In our 30th year, we performed jointly with BWE - in Sulgrave Manor prior to our Belgium Tour over Summer 2016, in Ypres, Menin Gate, Bruges and Ghent cathedrals. In the anniversary run-up, we reprised and joined forces with Wendy Kitching's dancers, for a 'Summertime Spectacular' in a return to Stantonbury Theatre in June 2015.

We are planning around our 2023/24 commitments; if you have an occasion or collaboration in mind, please do get in touch.

We always welcome new members, without audition; entertaining Milton Keynes since 1985. While we are based in Stony Stratford, we regularly reach wider audiences. We are also very interested in joining in with local events as part of our community ethos.

Would you like to join in?

If you would like to join and sing with us, you are very welcome to come along to a rehearsal. We will be delighted to see you. Our rehearsals page has more detail on timings and location. First rehearsal is free, approximately £5 per session afterward.

Rehearsal facilities: the Stony Stratford Methodist Hall is heated, with suitable conveniences, but we are asking all members and visitors to bring their own refreshments rather than using communal facilities for the time being. Please bring a mask or other face covering when moving through indoor spaces, if concerned.

Find out about the events we have planned; a gallery and footage from past performances, and some more information about the group and earlier history.
